Review: After many years of considering delving into the world of Floristry I have just finished a 2 week course with Flourish Sussex Flower school and what an incredible experience it was. Held in the beautiful setting of Pitfield Barn where we were able to work with many flowers grown on sight (how cool is that) we learnt a vast range of skills to apply to the working world of floristry, from large scale installations to hand held bouquets.
We were provided with a great range of ingredients and all the necessary equipment which also brilliantly centred around the more echo friendly ways to create. The course extends further than the time spent in the studio with all relevant information being sent to you to be able to look back on and use as you progress outside of the course.
Alicias intelligent, warm an emboldening tutorship puts you immediately at ease encouraging each individuals own style and journey. She has created a method of teaching which questions the industry standards of dos and donts allowing importantly for far more room for creativity whilst still accomplishing the high standards you’d expect for yourself and future clients. She is a wealth of knowledge and experience and has given me the confidence to take the next steps on my own journey into the world of floristry.

Review: Today marks one month since the first day of the career course I graduated from at Flourish Sussex Flower School in the beautiful surroundings of Pitfield Barn. Having followed Alicia’s account on Instagram for a while & loving it, I signed myself & my sister (now in business together eek!) up to one of Alicia’s open mornings. We both left it with so much excitement & shortly after both signed up to the course. The best decision I have ever made & never wished for a Time Machine more to go back to that first day & relive the best two weeks working with beautiful blooms, wonderful women (new friends) & learning sustainable floristry methods under the unfailingly wonderful Alicia’s encouragement & expertise. At the end of each day I would constantly be checking the time on my phone and telling my friends/ family I wish tomorrow would come sooner so I could go back to the school. That Christmas Eve feeling every evening. I walked into the course generally lacking self-confidence & feel I have come away with bundles more, which is huge for me. I am so excited for my dream career working with flowers alongside by big sister. Thank you, Alicia!

Review: I recently did the foundation for beginners course at Flourish and I was absolutely blown away by the quality of Alicia’s knowledge and care. She is a fantastic teacher, brings in the most beautiful flowers to work with (even getting in specific ones I had said I’d love to see!), and really left us all feeling empowered about heading out into the world and starting our own floral businesses! Review: Alicia’s knowledge is invaluable and she is an amazing mentor. Having the free open day was a game changer for me, it allowed me to meet her, see her style and feel confident that I was signing up to the right course.
I did the 2 week career course and was a complete novice. I was worried that I would be out of my depth and feel overwhelmed, but the course was magical and every day was full of beautiful flowers and creativity. I walked away at the end of every day with a smile on my face and knowing more and more as the course went on.
After the career course I signed up to the business course, which although I was already a business owner, I felt would be useful. I learned a lot and have all the modules to look back on should I need a refresher.
I have no doubt I will use Alicia again, and would highly recommend her courses to anyone looking into brushing up their skills, learning something completely new, or just doing it for fun.
The location of her studio at Pitfield Barn is so dreamy too, surrounded by flowers growing and such a creative atmosphere, it’s an all round winner!

Review: In Alicia I have finally found a florist teacher who allows the natural beauty and movement of the flowers to shine rather than following set rules (and there is no floral foam in sight). I’m doing a 1 week Foundation Course at Flourish Sussex Flower School and Alicia’s calm teaching is gently awakening my creative side. A week in the serene surrounding of Pitford Barn immersed in flowers and a daily slice of delicious cake – my new happy place.
